I believe that the Lions should start McMahon next year and have Harrington back him up. We don't want to throw a raw rookie in there right away. I think we keep Detmer as the 3rd string to be a teacher to both of them.

Why not put Dreisbach as third? Was anybody all that impressed with Detmer's ability to lose a football game last year? I wasn't.

McMahon gets the Number 1 nod right now because he's the vet, but at the start of the season it's Harrington who will be starting or else we're going to be wasting another 2 seasons in getting him prepared. Besides it will be easier to have McMahon on the bench than Joey, due to the fickle nature of the fans and the QB position.

The very first bad decision by Mac will have the fans SCREAMING for Joey. Save the time and trouble and let him 'win' the spot at camp.

Whomever they choose in week 1, the boos will start at the first punt.

I'm betting on Harrington to be thrown into the fire from the very beginning.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade but we should try to get a real veteran QB to mentor both McMahon and Joey
