For those of you who haven't watched McNabb and have no idea what he can do, watch tomorrow's game vs. the Rams. Watch how he can elude tacklers and buy time and then hit the open receiver. I don't think the Eagles will win tomorrow, mostly because the Rams offense will overwhelm the Eagles defense, but just watch McNabb, and then think of McMahon in a couple of years. He has all the tools and he just needs experience, that's all. I don't yak off at the mouth just to be talking, I read a lot and I know when I see talent. McMahon will be something special. Just watch!

I agree. I am glad he's playing for the Lions because a couple of years from now (or even late next year) he will be a huge contributor to the Lions offense. I really have like what I've seen so far of him and hope they keep him around.

watch the Rams secondary close on the receiver in a hearbeat...hate the Rams, but they're pretty damned good...

I disagree. McMahon is in the -mold- of a guy like McNabb, but McNabb was putting up gigantic numbers at a good college program while McMahon was getting shelled in college.

I wonder what choices McMahon had when he was deciding on a college? Just curious if he was a 'blue-chip' player coming out of High School or a lower tiered player.

'That's because they draft for speed. Something we haven't put enough focus on with the Lions over the past few years. This is a big off-season for this franchise, and I think M&M better make some good moves this off-season because this is their Waterloo. I will give them this past season, but if they don't show some definite improvement this coming season, I will be screaming for their heads louder than DY.' Dave

Fair enough. So what will be the 'bench mark' then? Mine are:

(1) 6 or 7 wins, with a couple wins they should have lost, and a couple losses they should have won.

(2) In the top 10 in over-all offence. In the middle of the pack in over-all defence.

(3) To not hear a single Leno joke about the Lions all season. <g>

I'm not expecting alot on a 2nd year of rebuilding.

'I don't think McMahon is anywhere near his size and therefore doesn't have the strength McNabb has. The fact that they are both scramblers is the only thing they have in common.'

...Believe me, McMahon will be on a conditioning program during the off season to bulk up and get stronger. I definitely notice the difference in their size. Last season was to see if he could pick up the WCO schemes and I believe he passed the test. Next year he should come in bigger and stronger with ability to throw with more accuracy. I believe we'll see a difference! The job is his to lose...

Well, hey, their last names both start with 'Mc'... (Unfortunately, so does Cade McNown!!)

Seriously though, I don't like to do to many comparisons (the next Steve Young...the next Donavan McNabb...etc), but I do see some similarity. As you mention, they both can scramble, but they both are good at throwing when scrambling, and both seem to have the ability to stay focused on the throwing portion rather than trying to run as soon as the pocket falls apart.

I also think that you are mistaken saying that McMahon is not anywhere near McNabb's size. NFL.com has McNabb listed as 6'2', 226. McMahon is 6'2', 213.

Having said all this, McNabb isn't necessarily a goal to shoot for. He has yet to produce more than an appearance in the NFC confrence game (a feat also performed by the likes of Shawn King).

I think I'm the same height and weight as a few NFL players CBs and WRs. Unfortunately, it's the wrong kind of weight.

And since you can assume that most player stats aren't too accurate (Aaron Gibson last weighed 380 back in grade school) McMahon could be 190 or 225.

We'll see who's the moron at the end of next season, asswipe (you're not even worthy of the capital 'A'.

All my predictions PRE-preseason came true:

1. Millen & Moronweg are in over their heads 2. This team under their leadership will be lucky to win 3 games (they won 2) 3. They've pissed off the players in the lockerroom with their lies and doubletalk. (and if a coach does that, he might as well pack his bags because the players aren't going to play for him and he can't fire them all!)

Predictions for next year:

1. Don't look for them to draft a QB at #3 2. The Lions will be lucky to win 4 games next year. 3. The heat will be turned up on Moronweg to the point where Millen will have no alternative but to fire him at the end of the season.
