ESPN is reporting that the Lions have signed Crowell to a 3 year contract. I can't find it anywhere else at this time, but I guess it's true. It doesn't take the taste out of my mouth about the way Morton was 'lied' to, but get used to it. These guys are learning by the seat of their pants. If Crowell is healthy, I like the receiving corps.

If this is true, and Crowell can spend the off-season in the gym so he isn't injured by the 2nd game, then our receiving corps. is looking pretty decent. Now if we only had someone to get the ball to them, and I say that hoping that McMahon can become that guy.

after reading the latest mlive article about morton, i have become pretty pissed with how this was handled.. Johnnie was my favorite player on the team, and he was willing to take a huge pay cut.. that sux,

but the re-signing of Crowell makes me happy. We got the shorter, very fast receiver in Hakim, the tall, speedy posession receiver in schroeder (which i got to see alot of these past 2 seasons in G, and we got crowell back, the tall burner with the dropsies.

Morton was not willing to take a pay cut. He wanted a raise. He was willing to lower his cap number this season, but that's a far different thing. he wanted a big bonus, which could be spread over many years of the contract to lower the cap number, but he definately wasn't going to give up any $$$.

if i'm keeping track correctly, for Morton's cap slot, so far we've gotten Schroeder, Crowell, Matt Joyce, and Lamar Campbell. and i still don't think they total Morton's cap number. i liked Morton as well as anyone, but it just didn't make sense to pay him big money to be the best player on a bad team.

The only question I have in my mind is who's going to make the tough catches over the middle. Crowell's big, but not sure if he'll give up the body like Morton did.

herman moore? j/k I hope the 'Gkins sign Tony Semple. He cost Moore his career but rolling into his knee a few years ago in that Seattle game. we might not be having this conversation if not for that. maybe the lions will pick yet another Wr in the draft.( I know they are going to take a TE) and how about Foster and Anderson? It's time to for them to s#%& or get off the pot

I just read a blurb over on the sportingnews, and these two guys don't understand what Mornhinweg is doing (and neither do their peers). They're dumbfounded that in an offense where 'across the middle' pass routes are a stable in the WCO why Mornhinweg would bring in two WRs who not only drop the ball too much but also lack the toughness to take those kind of punishing hits like Morton can.

And everyone in here knows I've never been very high on Crowell. I'd rather they cut Crowell for Schroeder than Morton.

Hey don't sweat Adam. I remember when he was a newbie to the group and he acted like he owned it then right from the start. Boland knows , as many of us old-timers do, that the best way to piss Adam off is to make a comment about his age. Funny thing is , he doesn't seem to age. The only difference in his posts now are the increased number and variety of cuss words. Guess that makes him feel 'older'

you can now add Kelvin Pritchett to that list.

guys that are 6'-3' and run like he does don't grow on trees. i think it was worth taking a flyer on him for one season. i'd be very surprised if we don't sign a quality receiver before training camp, possibly even Morton, or draft someone very high.
